Jen Rossi Stevens and I have been working to establish the website for The RI Home Birth Collective, and it is up! The collective started as a conversation between Jen and myself almost a year ago, and has bloomed into a real community of people invested in supporting the choice to birth at home. Jen and I gave birth to our sons at a moment when information about home birth in RI was extremely difficult to find. We both felt frustration as we looked for information about the legality of home birth, and tried to locate a midwife who served home birth families. After empowering birth experiences, we felt the desire to connect with other families who had chosen home birth, and wanted to help other families find information about birthing at home in RI. Luckily, there are other people in Rhode Island with the same passion and desire!
